My friend's girlfriend has a father who constantly berates her. She doesn't want to cut ties with him because she believes you always need family... for whatever. Another friend's girlfriend is lying to her parents about living with her boyfriend for no other reason than they are Christians and she doesn't want them to think she's having sex (supposedly they're pretty damn crazy). She has a plan for if they ever visit to pretend she lives in a different house. It won't work. They aren't paying for her college or housing at all, so she has no reason to keep up the lie, except that she thinks they'll disown her if they find out. Both of these could end poorly.. the first girl is already depressed, and has been on the brink of suicide before because of her situation (father stopped paying for meds), and if the second girl and her boyfriend break up over her conflict between him and her parents she'd probably drop out of school because she doesn't have any money to pay for it...
